How Long Will USDC by Circle Be Chelsea’s Front-of-Shirt Sponsor?

Chelsea fans could see USDC by Circle remain on the club’s shirts beyond the 2026/27 season, despite the sponsorship agreement initially covering just one year. Circle’s chief commercial officer, Kash Razzaghi, has confirmed that the company hopes to build a long-term relationship with the Premier League club.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Razzaghi explained that Circle wanted to approach football sponsorship cautiously because it was a new experience for the company.

“This is something we hadn't done before and we wanted to ease into it in a way that allowed us to understand what success looks like,” he said. “But the intention absolutely is for it to be long term.”

Why Did Circle Choose Chelsea?

Chelsea announced Circle Internet Group as its principal partner and official front-of-shirt sponsor on August 28, 2026. The partnership began with the 2026/27 campaign, bringing USDC branding to the men’s, women’s and academy teams.

Circle is the company behind USDC, a digital stablecoin designed to maintain a value equivalent to one US dollar. The company hopes to introduce its digital payment technology to a wider audience through football’s global reach.

Razzaghi highlighted Chelsea’s popularity in emerging markets, particularly across Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia and the Middle East, as a major attraction.

Will Chelsea Extend the USDC Sponsorship Deal?

Although Circle has expressed its intention to make the agreement long-term, an extension has not been confirmed. The initial one-season arrangement gives both parties an opportunity to evaluate the commercial impact of the partnership before deciding on its future.

For Chelsea, securing a front-of-shirt sponsor provides an important source of commercial revenue after several seasons of uncertainty in that position. The club had reportedly been targeting sponsorship revenue of around £50 million per season, although the financial terms of the Circle agreement have not been officially disclosed.

Ultimately, whether USDC remains on Chelsea’s shirts beyond 2026/27 will depend on the outcome of the partnership and any future agreement between the two parties.

For now, Circle’s message is clear: the deal lasts one season initially, but the ambition is to make it a long-term partnership.
