Lewis Hall Reveals Lifelong Newcastle Dream

Lewis Hall has revealed that his journey from the Chelsea academy to becoming an established Newcastle United player fulfilled a dream he had carried since childhood.

The England international, who joined Chelsea as a youngster and progressed through the club’s academy, admitted that he regularly followed Newcastle United while developing at Cobham.

“When I was in the Chelsea academy, whenever we finished the games, I used to look at the Newcastle results.”

Hall explained that his connection with Newcastle was more than simply a footballing ambition. As a boyhood Newcastle supporter, he regularly watched the club on television and imagined himself eventually playing at St James’ Park.

“I always used to watch the games on TV and, genuinely, thought one day that I would play here.”

From Chelsea Academy to Newcastle

Hall joined Chelsea's academy at Under-8 level and spent 12 years developing through the club's youth system. He eventually broke into the first team, making his senior debut in the FA Cup against Chesterfield in January 2022. He was also named Chelsea Academy Player of the Year for 2022/23.

His Newcastle dream became reality in 2023 when he initially joined the Magpies on loan. After making 22 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign, the move was made permanent in July 2024.

Reflecting on how quickly his dream materialised, Hall added:

“I didn't necessarily think it would be so soon in my career, but I'm here now and I'm buzzing.”

Hall has since established himself as an important Newcastle defender and recently signed a new long-term contract keeping him at the club until 2031.
